Music in Our Schools Month

Hey everyone,

Laura's right, we should definitely put this blog to action. Happy Music in our schools month! I thought I'd share with you what my students have been doing in celebration:

Back in October, I submitted three of my students' essays to a contest. The theme sponsored by MENC this year is, "Music! Just Imagine..." One of my most adorable fourth graders was a finalist in the contest and she won a Wii console and Wii music system for our school. Now the difficult part is going to be for me to figure out how to set it up... haha.

All 16 of my general music classes participated in a "signature drive" contest. MENC is collecting signatures of people in the United States who support music education as a vital part of public school education. My students collected over 1,000 signatures and one class actually collected 409 in one week.
